The Grinch that stole Valentines Day

When I think of Valentines Day, I think of the time that I volunteered my assistance to a local florist when I was younger, stayed up till late preparing red roses for V Day and sliced of the pad of one my fingers with secaters, pissed out blood and fainted on the floor. I also think of suburbanites like Dazza and Shazza who buy overstuffed teddybears, single red roses wrapped in cellophane and buy their gold jewellery at Kleins. It's not that I'm bitter....just that there is so much expectation. Still...if an anonymous bunch of WHITE roses arrived for me...I'd be quietly giggly. Red roses are so cliched. Like the time I got an envelope in my mailbox when I was at 18...that no one has ever owned up to. I blushed and got that weird fluttery feeling. Sure it was probably the strange man on the bus who occassionally hovered at the end of my street after staring at me the whole way home....but I'd like to think better of it.
To date today, I have received some nice sentiments via email and a chocolate heart from some supplier that was actually addressed to "The Marketing Manager". Which is me...technically.
Special! At lunch it was couple city. Lot's of holding of hands and a univeral look on a mans face that read "I'm doing this under sufference". So I bought myself a pair of "skinny" jeans (2 words that should never be used in the same sentence unless you are Kate Moss) that actually were quite flattering and put on lay by a pea coat (as I got excited about winter threads). Yes today is pay day! THANK CHRIST. And if no one else can spoil me, then I believe I can and will! I've also decided that I am going to paint my fibreglass urn and purchase some cascading red geraniums for our courtyard. So Karen, if you are reading this....get ready for Spain to come to our garden.
The novelty will probably wear off in a day or two....but I'm liking the idea of it for now. OLE !!
I've included a photo of my favorite lass from Deans 21st...just to add a bit of colour and light to this vitriolic blog. Oh I love that word.
