The weekend came and went like a blurry dream. After not spending a night at home last week and perhaps a few hours on the weekend, I've decided that I need to slow down.
On Friday night I almost killed myself in the half an hour window I had to get myself from Kew to Brunswick in time for the Grammys via pick up off take away noodles (which turned into Nando's), ushering out of next door neighbours cat that wandered in the house, phone calls and driving like a lunatic. But I did it....Then had to endure Brent's nervous breakdown as he timed the recording of the Grammys for Dean who was working late. I've never seen beads of sweat form over missing 5 second snippets of the show, if we managed to talk through an ad and into the show time without properly pressing record after skipping the ads. Stressful. Then Saturday I was ejected into the duties of being a bridesmaid at the bridal fair. There were people shoving brochures at you left, right and centre....pushy bridesmaids and lot's of brides with mothers and relatives in tow. I think the highlight of the day was the fashion parade when the only men within a miles radius of the place were models in Calvin Klein underwear. Amidst applause and screams...I felt like I was at a hens night already!!! Sunday saw me run late for my uncles bday which was celebrated at a winery in the yarra valley. I was greeted very frostily by my mother who lectured me on punctuality and respect which transported me to the backseat of my fathers car 10 years ago....where I was coincidentally sitting. Then we picked up my grandfather who hated my perfume and complained about it the whole way to Yarra Valley. Other than that, it was a fairly pleasant day and got me to thinking about more creative pursuits. I do want my own business and want more from life in general but lack the drive and faith in myself. I think if I had a business partner who was logical and practical (to counteract my lack of skills in those areas)...I could potentially do really well. Got to pull my finger out! TRAVEL VS BUSINESS????????? It's a hard one. So last night I was enjoying watching Sex in the City on DVD...when out of the corner of my eye I saw something crawling and dark. It was a GIANT cockroach on the architrave of the window next to my chair. I stood there and hyperventilated for a while as I watched it wriggle up the wall...then I ran to my room looking for a suitable tool to end its existence. I found my gold wedges and I ran over and slugged it. It was like something from ghostbusters. It exploded black liquid....and the remainder of it landed on my chair. So I cleaned it all up....but it was one of those moments where you miss a man about the house. ICK. Where there's one.....there's more. So I'm a little worried it's family might come looking for it. Tonight I see my dear Naomi who is on a 3 day stopover from Italy. I'm so excited as I have missed her so....
